However, when you use the actual term "continent," not its proper noun, you use the preposition "on."

Like I said, you're out of your element. You do not care about the subtleties of our beautiful language and are content with butchering it. On top of that, you have the NERVE to argue about it.

Shameful display, Donger. SHAMEFUL.
So England is on a continent, in Europe ?

Hell I am not even sure anymore.
We will quickly get into politics so won't go there

Surprisingly we haven't had any nursing home cases around here.

Watch your meat packing plants though.

England is a country on one of the seven continents.

England is in Europe, Laos is in Asia, Venezuela is in South America, etc.

You're right now, but you were wrong when you said this:

I know Europe is not a country, but rather a continent with many countries on it

That should be "I know Europe is not a country, but rather a continent with many countries in it."

A continent is a landmass with countries within its boundaries. So, in is correct.

Is it the British who stand "on line" at airport security or the fast food places? It's supposed to be "in line" but there's some country (maybe more than one) that stands "on line".

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if I heard Donger say he stood "under line" at airport security. He is a loose cannon. He is a renegade. Language rules do not apply to him. It is scary, TBH.

Trying to figure out French grammar growing up killed any interest in it , hence why I went into the medical world.
