They still have the best record inside the division.
Also the best record in the NL and the best offense since Matheny was fired.

Have you guys heard the Carpenter interview? He talked about the daily meeting that Shildt, the coaches and the players have every day before a game.

They go over what happened last game, what they could do better. What the plan is to win the game that night. Everyone in the room has a voice whether you have 16 years of experience or 6 days, everyone's input is appreciated. Mostly players talk but the coaches kind of lead the conversation so the daily meetings don't become a drag or a chore. They keep them fun.

Carp says its the #1 reason the season and team was turned around. Everyone feels their voice is heard and valued. That everyone has bought into what Schildt is selling.

Sounds like we have our new manager in place.

Arguably saved 2 runs on defense and created 1 run on the bases tonight so far.

Keep grinding boys...don’t let up. I liked Bader even last year, but damn that speed and defense was slow played in scouting reports. He obviously has elite speed, great instincts and a plus arm. He is growing as a hitter, he should be untouchable for us in the off season in fact we should try to lure him into a DeJong type deal.

If the Cardinals make the WC game and lose, should I be happy that they showed improvement after canning Matheny or be pissed as this was a season in which Mo made no major decision regarding the roster aside from cutting deadweight which in turn cost the team at getting a higher pick.

Call me an optimist, True Fan, whatever it may be, but personally I’m enjoying the hell out of watching this team no matter how they end up finishing.

You should be happy. A higher draft pick is not a big deal unless you are talking top 5, even then it all depends on the year. The Angels got Trout and Grichuk in the low 20’s. You can be mad that Mo gave some stupid contracts to relievers for sure.

Damn Carp leaves the game after hit by a pitch on the hand.

Yes, Schildt definitely walked into a good situation and by that I mean who he followed. By just doing what any successful leader in any profession does he probably looks like a guru to the team. For all Mo’s faults he cleared out some room while getting lucky with some injuries which helped simplify the decisions without creating any tension.

Harper's getting locked in. I can't wait to get his ass out of here.

FWIW, it's also nice to have a manger that used more than 23 guys on the roster.

At 113.8 mph, this is the hardest home run hit by a Cardinal at Busch Stadium since @Statcast began tracking in 2015! pic.twitter.com/OuW5T4wTiY

Personally I enjoyed being short a man on the bench so we could keep 2 relievers on the roster we never used, but to each his own.

Also to be fair he’s really only using 24... has Pena even played since the switch?
