Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

This.
But it's all part of a master plan.
Chiefs are gonna 'lose' to the Jets. Everyone jumps off the bandwagon, says KC's a fraud, blah, blah, blah . . . . . KC proceeds to run over the NFL roughshod the rest of the year due to being underestimated by EVERYONE, including through the playoffs en route to another Super Bowl trophy.
At the acceptance speech, they ask Veach about the mid-season loss to the Jets. Veach just smiles and channels his inner-Mahomes 'we do what we do', confirming what we thought we knew all along. Veach had a master plan.
Veach zigs while everyone else is zagging . . . . . . . [Reply]
They ran 20,000 simulations. They chose one at random and reported on what happened.
My guess is prior to the season the Jets had a 5% chance of beating us (now maybe 1%). On 20,000 simulations, that's 1,000 different opportunities for them to have a path with the Jets beating us.
Jets coach Adam Gase on Patrick Mahomes: "I don't know if I've ever seen someone play as well as he does as consistently as he does. ... He never has a bad game. It's something that I don't know if we've ever really seen anyone play this well as many games in a row."

ESPN did not disrespect us.
Chief Fan has never been great with large numbers/statistics. [Reply]
Maybe I'm too critical and have too high of a standard for him, but he seems to not be playing as well this season. He looks skittish in the pocket. In 18 he was much more comfortable.
In 18-19 he was just slinging it IMO. Now, he's thinking more, processing more before making decisions. I see what you are saying and we could blame some of it on the OL, but I think we're just witnessing the maturation process. Some stats will be down, but barring injury, this guy is going to keep improving his game and be the GOAT we all know he is. [Reply]

This is the biggest part of it.
People watch him and think he's not playing up to his own standards but the actual analysis shows differently.
2018
ESPN QBR - 80.3
QB Rating - 113.8
2019
ESPN QBR - 77.7
QB Rating - 105.3
2020
ESPN QBR - 84.9
QB Rating - 109.8
And a random stat to show it as well:
2018 INT % - 2.1
2019 INT % - 1.0
2020 INT % - 0.4
