More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

Call the trade a comp pick if you want (it's not even close, because it's an early/mid 2nd, not an extreme late 3rd at best, but whatever) but to insist we should have just kept him for a year then taken a comp pick later is just as shortsighted when we're not free to spend $15 million this year without losing any draft compensation for getting rid of Ford.

The Chiefs are still a dumpster fire with tackling/coverage. Honey Badger is good but he's only one player. I don't see any evidence they are getting better by dumping Houston/Ford. They have more money to play with. We'll see if they can make serious improvement.
That had everything to do with scheme. KC should have been pressing but they NE WR's free releases and paid dearly for it. It's easier to mask defencies in the secondary with a strong pass rush than it is to mask a bad pass rush with a good secondary.
Rushing the passer is the MOST VALUABLE thing a defense can do. It's why the highest paid defensive player ALL RUSH THE PASSER!

As most predicted on here they are essentially a year late. This all should have been done after the Colts playoff loss on the defensive side. But they doubled down. Now they are here and are saying it was BOTH the coaches and the players on defense and the great purge upon us. Berry is next. Chiefs positional player favorites of yesteryear are no more. Age of Mahomes has arrived.
I kind of like knowing that Chiefs fans dont have to have fan favorites at LBer or Safety as the best Chiefs player anymore. It's all about the QB. It's great knowing Chiefs are putting up 40 every game regardless if the Edge rusher is making 100 million or 100 dollars. [Reply]
