Basically, you’re looking at a set of teams that can’t offer the guy much more than maybe $5m when you’re looking at KC/GB/PIT. I’m not sure what Buffalo can do, maybe a little more but they are still tight against the cap too. The only teams who can probably give him $10m+ is Cleveland, Indy, Miami. As far as teams who I think might be interested and are solid.
It will probably be a one year deal but my guess is because of the funky salary cap, he goes ring chasing above all. [Reply]

I’ve got faith in our staff based on their history, but they’ve got their work cut out
If they get a guy like Watt, it isn’t going to be a big contract. Just fit him in for 2021.
I’m not worried about the cap beyond 2021 right now. There’s a decent chance this is the last year we have both Jones and Clark, one is probably going to be gone after this year. Probably Clark. Money will be coming available when we need it in different ways. But really, the 2022 cap doesn’t even look bad right now. [Reply]

I’ve never been on the “get Clowney” bandwagon, but if there were ever a time to do it it’s while his value is at its lowest as opposed to highest.
Either way, it’s just a thought. I’d prefer to draft a pass rusher anyways.
Whoever they sign to start in 2021 shouldn’t prohibit or even limit the resources that need to be put into the DE position in the draft. The position needs a stud to be drafted and value should be there in the first.
My dream scenario is signing Watt and drafting a DE in the first 2 rounds....but if you can get Clowney for 3m or less, it’s a good risk.
That helps the 2021 DL be best in the NFL and gives multiple options going forward. [Reply]
