Less than an hour until tip so I'm cranking up the panic attacks. Gonna need a couple of xanax to get myself out of this worry-hole I've put myself into!
Man I wish watching basketball could just be fun, but I know it's important that I fret enough for three or four people. [Reply]

Yeah, we sure can. I've read the general rule is once you're inside an hour of tip during the tourney you need to do your best to self-facilitate a complete mental breakdown.
The Bucknell loss really hurt at the time, but it went away pretty damn fast after KU won it all like 3-4 years later. Since then, there have been a string of 15 seeds to beat 2 seeds, and even more 14s have taken down 3s, and Bucknell is only something Big XII trolls (or Wichita State douches) whip out. I think more people talk about the Northern Iowa loss than they do Bucknell or Bradley.
And now with Virginia's loss, I don't think it's very smart to call Kansas the "choking" team when picking brackets. Those losses happened, but they aren't evident of any kind of choking tradition.
Hell, Duke lost to a ****ing 15. Nobody ever talks about that. Why isn't Duke a choker whenever they're a 2 seed? Why don't people crow about picking against them in the first round because, "REMEMBER MERCER?!"
Anyway, Self probably has another stunning first round loss in his sleeve that will come out at some point before he leaves. But I think we can use this as a lesson that being trendy and looking for the gritty upset win because "Bucknell!" that one time is a pretty dumb idea.
Hell, if we lose tonight nobody will give a shit. UMBC already cleared the air on that one. [Reply]

Duke's had Lehigh, Mercer, and South Carolina in recent years.
I never cared all that much about Bucknell and Bradley, since they were so early in the Self years... and like you said, that first class ended up winning a NC.
And even IF Kansas has more letdowns, they also haven't made an NIT appearance in recent years, unlike UK and UNC. [Reply]
KU was getting beaten when other blue blood programs weren’t as much. Now with NC, Duke and now Virgina taking high profile early bad losses, KU’s don’t look so bad. Like BC said, at least we didn’t suck so bad years that we had to go to the NIT. [Reply]
It's almost as if they occasionally get upset! People who try to pick big upsets in their brackets should definitely think about picking against Duke in 1st rounds! [Reply]
