Never understood the Sorenson hate. 7 INT’s and 15 passes defended in the last 3 seasons (considering he didn’t play most of last year). He can blitz, he has proven he can cover.
He isn’t a starter but he’s the kind of player you want as depth. I don’t mind if he plays single high sometimes.
If he does it likely means Thornhill is playing corner. [Reply]

Uh, maybe because he was the starter and was the early projected starter? [Reply]
I'd rather have Thornhill using his instincts to pick off deep passes as a single high safety than having Peters do it while abandoning his responsibility at corner.
Juan Thornhill looked good while I was there last weekend, and it sounds like he's having a day today.
He's picked up right where he left off from his time at Virginia: a ballhawk with range to play deep. He's a stud, and I still can't believe the Chiefs got him where they did.

He's physically limited and the Chiefs have generally given him way to much playing time. They also signed him to a stupid contract when he could have been replaced by a 3rd day draft pick for a quarter of the money. [Reply]

I still say he takes too much shit for his athleticism because he's a white guy.
And people think he's more of a hard-hitter than he is for the same reason.
Sorensen is game, so I have no problem with people calling him 'tough' or 'rugged' - the guy is absolutely willing to put his nose into the pile. But honestly, run support and baseline tackling are probably the worst part of his game.
He's actually a pretty damn decent playmaker. He's not a single-high guy, but few truly are. He's pretty athletic, especially for a safety.
I think he's overpaid but if the Chiefs cut him, he'd be on an NFL roster and there would be several teams bidding for his services. He's a nice player who I wish were making about $2 million less than he is. A $4.7 million cap hit for a rotational safety is pretty ridiculous. But if we had him at $2.5 million on the cap this year I think you'd keep him without question. [Reply]
