Last set. It was fun, it was awesome, and the son and I had a great time driving there, driving around the farm (checking out the new hunting stands), watching the eclipse, driving home, and stopping off at the Harry S. Truman airport and seeing part of their boneyard.
Was supposed to rain at 8 am, but didnt get started until 11:30 so I wasnt expecting to see it at all, it couldnt have been more cloudy
Then at 12:45, one half of the sky (the right half) cleared up in minutes as if by magic, leaving the other half a veeery deep, stormy blue... the light it produces is just sooo cool and hard to describe, it made everything sort of a glowing purple hue
It looked like the light of another planet
I enjoyed how it made everything around me look, just as much or more, than I did viewing the actual eclipse through a welders mask... it was quite cosmically pleasing
As a side bonus, I'm pretty sure that exposure to it has given me Superpowers, like the ability to smell colors [Reply]

Insect noises stopped in my area. Was cool and weird.
We were a couple miles south of 70 before you get to Columbia, and it was interesting that the evening noisy bugs started doing their thing. Obviously it wasn't perfectly clear, but man was it cool.
