If playing against a bad defense doesn't make the offense worse, how's playing against a good offense make a defense better? It stands to reason that it would have to cut both ways, no?
It's like the 'clutch player' argument. People always show those 'most clutch hitters' graphics and they're filled with some of the best players ever. And they say "see, clutch exists!" when the list demonstrates the exact opposite. Greatness exists, yes. And in key situations that greatness comes through because these are great players. Of course great players play well when it matters - they play well when it doesn't as well. They're just great players.

I don't know how you cover that guy in the slot, man.
Without a boundary to force him into, what the hell can you possibly do to stay in his pocket? His athleticism is the best in football, you can't just break with him and close and you can't use the sideline to maintain leverage.
I just don't know how the hell you cover that guy in the middle when you can't interrupt his release and he can work either direction in his break. [Reply]

Thornhill was a first round talent. How he fell to us I had no idea. But I was ecstatic when we drafted him. Looks like he’s living up to his potential so far [Reply]
Chris Jones has some moves, man. Wylie and LDT held their own on power moves, but Jones is so quick going inside and outside that he’s tough to get a handle on one-on-one.

Getting these dudes in the slot is just damn near unfair. Andy was ahead of the curve there when he used to do it with TO, it's just hard to cover.
