In the meantime, this gem from Andy Reid's press conference today:

Andy Reid was asked if he did anything fun or exotic this offseason: “I attacked a couple Chile rellenos.”

Idk how they’ve looked in camp but I’d probably prefer to keep Hamilton and let Williams go for the money. I think they’re similar players, both solid rotational pieces that shouldn’t play much unless injuries strike.

Yeah, not getting Harrison probably hurt. But so did not getting Boston or a slew of other potential contributors. Or firing Sutton.

There's no question that the team was just too focused on making what they had in-house work. They could've/should've been even more aggressive.
By late in the season everyone knew what we had at QB. I don't think that was expected at the beginning of the year so Veach and company expected to have another year to put the rest of the team together. We are seeing the results of that plan in the upgrades on defense this year.

And yes, I think this all was planned last year. Plan to bring in Spags after his year off (Reid may have already had him on the hook at that point) as well as draft guys who fit Spags 4-3 even though they did not fit Bob's 3-4. That gave those guys a year in the league to learn "how to be professionals" so that the learning curve would be less steep this year.

This is my ultimate frustration.

By the trade deadline, the expectations should've shifted. Granted, you're past firing your DC by then, but you still have an opportunity to supplement him. You probably get Boston for a 6th rounder and Snacks for a 5th and another relatively nominal asset.

Pull off a couple of relatively low-cost deals for tested veterans and you make the SB. I agree with O.City there.

I just feel like maybe we were slow to react to the new normal. Once it was clear that Patrick Mahomes was Patrick mothafuckin' Mahomes, we should have been more assertive in adding to the squad.

But what's done is done - time to go win a 'ship...

Is Patrick Mahomes in danger of turning into a sideshow caricature of himself? Next on @undisputed

Offense:

QB (2): Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne; no real challenge here.
RB (6): Damien Williams, Carlos Hyde, Darwin Thompson, Darrell Williams, Anthony Sherman, John Lovett; lots of backs for a true committee approach. Lovett’s versatility gets him a spot.
TE (2): Travis Kelce, Blake Bell; Lovett serves as TE3
OL (8): Eric Fisher, Andrew Wylie, Austin Reiter, LDT, Mitchell Schwartz, Cam Erving, Khalil McKenzie, Nick Allegretti; no real surprises here.
WR (7): Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman, Byron Pringle, Cody Thompson, Gehrig Deiter; I prefer Custis’s upside, but Gehrig probably gets the nod.

Defense:
DL (8): Frank Clark, Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Alex Okafor, Breeland Speaks, Khalen Saunders, Tanoh Kpassgnon, Emmanuel Ogbah; lots of bodies and a constant rotation.
LB (6): Anthony Hitchens, Reggie Ragland, Damien Wilson, Darron Lee, Ben Niemman, Dorian O’Daniel
S (5): Tyran Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, Daniel Sorensen, Jordan Lucas, Armani Watts; went with an extra safety, since these guys are so versatile.
CB (6): Bashaud Breeland, Charvarious Ward, Kendall Fuller, Rashad Fenton, Mark Fields, D’Montre Wade; I’m assuming there will be a trade here eventually. People seem to like Wade and Fields, so I’m guessing they make it for now. I really hope we make a move here.

Specialists (3):

K: Harrison Butler
P: Dustin Colquitt
LS: James Winchester
When you take the time to write out all 53, a few things become apparent:

1. We are absolutely loaded with offensive weapons around Mahomes. It’s hard to believe a few years back that guys like Jehu Chesson were on the roster.

2. The DL is loaded as well. I feel like I picked 8 good to great players. Guys that would’ve been competing for major PT in years past will be released.

3. The LBs are more intriguing than I thought they would be. I’m very curious how we’ll use our speed in Lee and O’Daniel. I’m also very curious to see what Hitchens and Ragland do with a better DL, a better coordinator, and a fantastic hire at LB coach.

4. DBs are rags and riches. I feel great about our safeties and well...not so great about our corners. After our top 3 corners, I really struggled to pick 3 more. I sincerely doubt we are done making moves at the position.
