Give it to Tarantino.:-)

Saw it this afternoon and my opinion of it is very meh. Better than the prequels but that is about as high as it goes.

Still love Rogue One.

Forbes needs to slow down a bit.

This film is still piss pounding Rogue One at the Box Office, a film that generated over a billion dollars.

Only in the internet generation could a film with a 92% RT rating and $635 million gross worldwide in a week be considered anything but a wild success.

The opening weekend is almost irrelevant at this point, as it was projected to hit $220 million its first weekend.

What matters now is whether or not it has legs.

Yesterday was off by 76% over last Friday, which isn't a good sign, especially with word of mouth, Mark Hamill included, slamming the film.

That's unfortunate. I guess he can't separate himself enough from the character to realize that Luke could have gone a billion different ways post-Jedi.
People get old, make mistakes, harden. Ideas and philosophies change. There was no set way this could have gone down.

Hamill already rolled back his comments. He made them before he saw the movie.

He said after seeing the movie, he was wrong and Rian was right.

I haven’t talked to any other adult Star Wars fans that liked the film.

All have said they have no desire to see it again or in IMAX and that Rian Johnston essentially ruined Star Wars.

My money is on him losing his trilogy.

The entire weekend is projected to be down by around 65%, which is closer to normal.

Have to remember Friday's numbers from last weekend include 50 million in Thursday preview revenue, so the dip on Friday is always going to be much more significant.

It is not going to do what TFA did, but no one expected that. It should wind up between 700-775 million stateside, and another 850-900 million or so overseas. TFA did 2 billion worldwide, so TLJ coming in at 1.5-1.7 billion will not be a bad haul at all.

And, at the end of the day, even a slightly lower gross will not have any impact on Episode IX. Folks who hated TLJ will show up to see if JJ fixes everything, and those that liked it are going to show up to see how it ends.

The key for the future is the development of the post Skywalker storyline and the individual movies. Solo needs to be good, and so does the Kenobi movie to keep the stand alone movies viable. The new trilogy needs to figure out how to keep the essence of Star Wars while breaking new ground---whether it is Rian doing those movies or someone else.

I could see this happening if KK and Lucasfilm lose faith in him. KK is not hesitant to make a change for the good of the franchise.

I will be absolutely stunned if this film ends up with $1.7 billion.

I think it’ll have difficult time to get $1.3 billion.

Abrams isn't known for his originality so I'm guessing it'll just harken back to Return of the Jedi.

A small band of Rebels, led by Poe Dameron, will do something to weaken or destroy The First Order once and for all, while Rey will hunt down to confront and ultimately kill Kylo Ren, restoring peace to the galaxy

They'll throw in a little Finn, Rose and Chewie and bam! There's your movie.
No doubt this will be the script and it’s a damn shame. TLJ wasn’t perfect, but it was at least original. It is better than TFA, it doesn’t tough Rogue One, but it was original. The canon nerds are creating more Ewoks with their hate.
