If he is a true hit, it’s going to make the transition of a post-Watkins release rather seamless I would say.
Based on what I saw Sunday, I'd say he's a clear #3 right now. That bodes well for the future. [Reply]
Here’s my best guess as to what the 53 man roster will look like. We’ll most likely make a trade or two that will change this.
Offense:
QB (2): Patrick Mahomes, Chad Henne; no real challenge here.
RB (6): Damien Williams, Carlos Hyde, Darwin Thompson, Darrell Williams, Anthony Sherman, John Lovett; lots of backs for a true committee approach. Lovett’s versatility gets him a spot.
TE (2): Travis Kelce, Blake Bell; Lovett serves as TE3
OL (8): Eric Fisher, Andrew Wylie, Austin Reiter, LDT, Mitchell Schwartz, Cam Erving, Khalil McKenzie, Nick Allegretti; no real surprises here.
WR (7): Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson, Mecole Hardman, Byron Pringle, Cody Thompson, Gehrig Deiter; I prefer Custis’s upside, but Gehrig probably gets the nod.
Defense:
DL (8): Frank Clark, Chris Jones, Derrick Nnadi, Alex Okafor, Breeland Speaks, Khalen Saunders, Tanoh Kpassgnon, Emmanuel Ogbah; lots of bodies and a constant rotation.
LB (6): Anthony Hitchens, Reggie Ragland, Damien Wilson, Darron Lee, Ben Niemman, Dorian O’Daniel
S (5): Tyran Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, Daniel Sorensen, Jordan Lucas, Armani Watts; went with an extra safety, since these guys are so versatile.
CB (6): Bashaud Breeland, Charvarious Ward, Kendall Fuller, Rashad Fenton, Mark Fields, D’Montre Wade; I’m assuming there will be a trade here eventually. People seem to like Wade and Fields, so I’m guessing they make it for now. I really hope we make a move here.
Specialists (3):
K: Harrison Butler
P: Dustin Colquitt
LS: James Winchester [Reply]
I've seen many people who think Xavier Williams is not making the team but I really think he will be part of the 53.
Not only is he a solid player on the last year of his deal but after Nnadi, there is just not much in terms of run stuffing DT on this team. Saunders is just a rookie.
You want to keep Williams for those goal line situations and as a backup to Nnadi.
That Patriots are going to run the ball a lot this year. I wouldn't let a run stuffing DT like Williams leave at all. You'll need that meat. [Reply]

If Hardman is picking up the offense well, he should play.
Hardman will become a better player but right now Robinson has three years of experience in this league and three years in Reid's system.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Hardman is already better than Robinson this year but I am hoping Robinson does well. He has talent too IMO and now has experience and apparently good chemistry with Mahomes. [Reply]
Obviously a 53 is a guess but if I were to guess at it....I'd make a few changes to his roster.
I don't think we carry 7 WRs I think Cody Thompson and Custis are prime PS candidates, also think Dieter will stick around as the team mascot but on IR. I think they go 5 WR's and use that 6th spot to keep Tremon Smith around.
Defensively...I think Lucas and Fenton are toast as they go with 9 DB's to carry an extra DL and an extra LB. Your roster has them with 3 DT's, I think Williams or Hamilton gets a spot.
I also think Attouchu is making the roster because he has experience as a SLB and has played some rush end, Spags is a big fan of SLB's that have DE rush skills. [Reply]

Lucas is actually a pretty good backup safety. I'd prefer we cut somebody more worthless like Watts. [Reply]

Pete Sweeney thinks Hardman could win the 3rd receiver job for week one. He has been that good.
Robinson has good chemistry with Pat and knows the system better, but he doesn’t have the gifts Hardman does. He isn’t a deep threat like him. [Reply]

I get that, I like Lucas more than Sorenson but Lucas is a 2 million dollar backup and I don't think they want to cut a guy who won't make 2 million dollars for the next 3 years. There may be a few money decisions made because of well contracts. [Reply]
