Breaking news story with @RossDellenger: Nationwide conference meetings this week are expected to result in the postponement of the 2020 college football season and all fall sports.
Delaney has to be cringing at his successor with the press conference yesterday. What a shit show that was. It was like a democrat yes man puppet for the liberal university presidents doing like they say. No, It was exactly that. It was politics. :-) [Reply]

Yes but not because of the overall safety of the players but because you're not going to be able to play 16 games in with 1 bye week and not have guys get COVID which could potentially turn some games into glorified XFL games where as the B1G schedule was 10 games with multiple bye weeks and IIRC a positive player sisnt have to sit out 3 weeks like the NFL. The NFL will be fine. They have plenty of talent and a player is out 3 weeks. With as many injury’s they have a year it won’t be much different other than maybe a few more guys potentially being out. If the players want to play they have the money to stay home and social distance while they aren’t at practice or games. [Reply]

The situations are not remotely comparable.
The NFL is professional athletes. NCAA is amateur.
Schools will be held liable if a player dies. It can reflect poorly on NFL teams, but I’m fairly certain that all players in the NFL have to sign a waiver now. NCAA it’s not mandatory. [Reply]

The post you quoted said literally nothing about NCAA. But, NCAA players have the option to opt out if they don’t want to take the risk. [Reply]

But you’re ok playing in the spring when all the better players will have opted out and moved on. [Reply]

There will still be plenty of talented players and future NFL players playing in the Spring though. Some of the guys already opt out of bowl games and yet they are still plenty watchable.
However watching some broke dicks like Ryan Hunter and Andrew Wylie protecting Mahomes against Von Miller cuz a couple guys on the line got covid? Yeah no thanks. [Reply]
