In the meantime, this gem from Andy Reid's press conference today:

Andy Reid was asked if he did anything fun or exotic this offseason: “I attacked a couple Chile rellenos.”

The problem is that they both reached and needlessly traded up for Mecole Hardman. Not only could they have waited for Hardman at the end of the second round; they probably could have obtained him in the third frame! This was an extremely poor decision that reeked of panic.

The Hardman blunder was awful, but the Chiefs did well otherwise. Both safety Juan Thornhill and defensive tackle Khalen Saunders provided good value after that on Day 2. It was disappointing to see Kansas City fail to address both defensive end (beyond Frank Clark) and cornerback, but with so many needs, they just couldn't afford to do everything.

This should be considered an underwhelming draft for the Chiefs. It's never a good thing when a team panics, especially with its first pick. Unfortunately circumstances prompted the desperation decision, however.

After this I tracked this guy down all over the internet to blast him for being stupid and for his stupid draft site being taken over by pop up ads like a bush league fucko

Also noteworthy is that Spags has been playing Thornhill at safety and corner.

The guy is a really long athlete with excellent speed and ball skills. Him and Honey Badger are gonna be playing literally everywhere in the secondary

If we play 3 safeties on the field please put Sorenson near the line. That’s his best

Round 3? Dude ran the fastest 40 (along with Metcalf). How is that lasting until round 3?

Few words from Walter Football-

In this draft analyst's opinion, I would grade Mahomes as a second-round pick. That is the same grade the NFL draft advisory board gave him. A general manger of a NFC team said they had a fourth-round grade on Mahomes, but felt he had some tools to work with. That same team has a third- to fourth-round grade on Deshaun Watson, a fifth-round grade on Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya, and a second-round grade on Mitch Trubisky. That team is a tough grader, overall. Another NFC team said they had Mahomes low - into Day 3 - and weren't hot on him as a prospect, but they also have a young franchise quarterback, so they aren't interested in quarterbacks until the late rounds of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Sources from one AFC team said they had a second-round grade on Mahomes and viewed him similarly to Derek Carr coming out of Fresno State. They are very high on Mahomes and think he could become a hot prospect in the leadup to the draft. The scouting director of another AFC team said they liked Mahomes. They graded him in the third round, but don't think he is as good of a prospect as Carr. Another AFC team said they also had a second-day grade on Mahomes.

There are plenty of teams in the NFL that are starved for quarterback talent, so Mahomes could rise in the leadup to the 2017 NFL Draft just because of need and desperation. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that Mahomes goes in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Round 2 could be his destination, and he probably won't go any lower than the second round.

Also-

Player Comparison: Derek Carr/Jay Cutler. There are a lot of comparisons for Mahomes. On NFL Network, they consistently compare Mahomes to Cutler because they are both big-armed gunslingers who have decision-making issues.
--------

Yeah, good call there buddy.

Actually, I think the Chute Pickles game is a better example, Mr. Pitt Gorilla. I haven't looked at those stat-things, of course ... having solely based my assessment on the eye test and feels.

Anyhow, I don't think we win that game without Hunt. He got the scoring started with the 50+ yard screen after we started off a little "iffy" once again ... having just put down a herd of Donks on Sunday Night. (By the way, does Wally know the screen game, or what?) He wound up with 3 TDs in that scrimmage, I think.

It's unfortunate that Hunt turned out to be a complete idiot with alcoholic DNA and zero self-awareness. He had a good thing going here and decided that the best thing to do was piss it away as quickly as he could.

Offense-wise, Hunt was still about 4th or 5th on the Importance Scale in those days, though. My list has Mahomes at 1, Kelce at 2, Hill at 3 and Schwartz or Hunt at number 4. He was also #3 on my list of active kickers.

I'm very disappointed in Conley's tenure with the Chiefs, however. I had very high hopes for him. I'm afraid his hands failed him in clutch moments, though. Other than Mahomes himself, he was also probably our most frequent fumbler having had two crucial possession flubs at critical times that impeded easier blowouts and definitely cost us coffin-nail scores.

As a long-strider, he also just didn't seem to have the small-space quicks necessary to consistently respond to off-schedule and improvised plays.

Personally, I hope he's successful with the Jags. Good guy. Good player. Wish him the best.

Not in games apparently. Seth Keysor reviewed the all-22 throughout the year last year and constantly said that Conley wasn't getting separation. Even DRob got a lot more separation.
