Again, we've never had a 3rd option in the passing game break 700 yards.
Why pay $13-15M for it?
It doesn't take a crystal ball to watch Josh Fields and see that he has slow eyes, doesn't read the field well, is inaccurate down the field and inaccurate in general.
It's like seeing that Derek Carr shits his pants in the red zone under pressure. If you watch it, you can see it.
Upgrading at the WR spots outside of Rice is not about having another 1,000 yard receiver there. It's just about having better players around the 2 guys you're trying to emphasize.
KC needs to improve the threat level defenses perceive in defending the ball outside the intermediate ranges of the field. It also needs to improve the ability to beat man coverage. There are multiple paths to those two components, but failure to address them will lead to another frustrating year for the offense. Relying solely on draft picks and tier 3 bargain FAs is a narrow path (that we just walked). Repeating it COULD work. Or could not.
I get the sticker shock (I'm still experiencing it) but it is what it is, and it's across the board. Rising top-of-market deals lift all deals. Including at WR. [Reply]
Philthy iggles are like that plague that won't go away. Always swinging for the fences in free agency and the draft. At least their GM has guts to be agressive, unlike most softies around the league. [Reply]

Yeah but don't you think that's partially because our third option is usually straight ass? [Reply]

The guy only had 32 targets in the receiving game. I love Pacheco but he’s not exactly a strong fit catching passes like Jerrick McKinnon or Damien Williams.
You could see the offense take off when Clyde had his best game last year in NE.
A receiving back is really high on the list of needs IMO
Rice....while having a great year, hasn't exactly shown to be this rounded guy.
Everyone kinda sees MVS as a guy just running, which he was, but fuck, if you have a guy that could track and catch the ball, that's open......alot. [Reply]

Advocating to be anything like the current day eagles is certainly a choice after the disaster their season turned into. [Reply]

Kelce isn't going to be the 1st or 2nd option forever, and I'd really rather this offense not turn into "Fuck it, Hollywood down there somewhere".
You made a great selection in Rice last year. Now go validate it with another guy that can do it all - or will be able to eventually.
At 32, if you're looking for 'well rounded' it's going to come with serious risks. Character, productivity, injury or otherwise. Maybe that's Walker or Leggette. And maybe it works.
But if you do that and those risks come to fruition, you can't then also get pissed off if/when they do.
You're not going to find a size/speed dynamo that deep in the draft without major red flags. And frankly, you're not going to find elite speed that deep without flags of its own (and that's almost always going to be size).
You just seem to be focused on concepts that make a TON of sense if we're drafting at 10. We ain't.
At 32 you're just picking warts. And they're all issues in their own right. So I don't see why 'size' should be a wart that's more of a dealbreaker than Leggette simply not being a Power 5 caliber player for 80% of his college career. Or Coleman not getting separation at all. Especially when if either of those warts become serious issues, you get NOTHING from the player.
Whereas if Worthy can't ever overcome size issues, he can still draw attention that creates space for his teammates in both the passing and running game. [Reply]

Crazy, eh?
Right and I never doubted the team once this year. Check my post history. But if you don't think a burner that can reliably track and catch the ball makes this offense much better then I don't know what to tell you. [Reply]

It's not about supporting a 1k 3rd option it's about having competent players out there that can be relied upon. Either way I absolutely think this offense could support 3 guys getting close to 1k. [Reply]
