People: "Girls at football games should just be cheerleaders."
Feminists: "No! Look at Sarah Fuller!"
Sarah Fuller: "I was the only one cheering and I was like – what the heck? What’s going on? And I tried to get them pumped up, and I was like, ‘You guys need to start [cheering] your team on.’" [Reply]
This is taking things too far. She filled in a ST role because Vandy literally had no other options. she didn't try out for the team, beat out a bunch of other candidates, practice with the team, etc. She just basically helped out the football team when something went wrong with their regular kicker for one kick-off. It wasn't a publicity stunt. They had no kickers due to Covid. Mason had an open tryout for students & no dudes showed up who could do any better (Vandy doesn't have men's soccer).
They had her kick the pooch out of necessity, pretty obv if you paid attention to pre game warmups when she was practicing 14 yard field goals that she couldn't get the ball to the end zone on a kickoff.
An NAIA school wouldn't show up w/ that kicker - they had no choice.
I just can't believe no current player on that Vandy roster never kicked a football in HS or middle school at one time. Someone on that roster could have done what she did. I bet Mason was out after the season and just sped up the process by embarrassing that school's administrators. [Reply]

I don't think you understand how affirmative action works. [Reply]

Yeah, part of affirmative action is to hand out awards, in this case diminish an award, that should have gone to somebody else in an effort to make other people think the affirmative action action actually did something. It's basically replacing the most qualified with lesser people and then trying to sell it like it worked. [Reply]
