The full 2024 NFL schedule is slated to be released at 8pm ET on May 15, six days after teams were originally expecting it, according to a league memo sent this afternoon.

The memo from NFL EVP/Media Distribution Hans Schroeder did not give a reason for the delay. The schedule release had not been officially announced yet, and the league always maintains a degree of flexibility considering the complex nature of developing the schedule. But some teams had been told informally it was coming Thursday.

Schroeder wrote that more details about activations or other nuances of the plan were expected in the coming days. The league and media rights holders sometimes announce specific high-profile matchups before the full slate is unveiled.

The schedule release has become a key priority for teams and the league in recent years, with teams preparing increasingly sophisticated schedule social content and using it as a starting point for single-game ticket sales.

^ Updated

The #Texans will play the #Chiefs on December 21st before then the #Ravens on Christmas.

The NFL Schedule is set up so the four Christmas teams play the prior Saturday.

The final three weeks for the Texans:

Short Week @ KC
Shortest Week vs Ravens
Likely AFCS after long break

I'm so fucked up with dates and days with all my recent travel and trade shows, I thought it was Thursday and I was stumped as to why I couldn't find the NFL Schedule.

This old man is an idiot.

Officially confirmed

The NFL will once again have a Black Friday game on Amazon Prime Video: It will be the #Raiders traveling to Kansas City for a matchup vs. the #Chiefs. https://t.co/EVkx84SN3D pic.twitter.com/wttllFIPvS

You're probably thinking of the year prior. @NFLGameLeaks trolled the world.

Now you can actually tell the accounts on 𝕏 are covering their bases and coordinating. And it also seems the league and networks are more in control of "leaking" (read: hyping) their desired dates and matchups.

I ain't saying it is foolproof, but I really don't think we're in for a repeat of 2022. If anything, the NFL concluded from that incident, "Who would have thought the plebes would care enough to monitor each and every game announcement over the course of a multiple day period?! We shoulda thought of that ourselves. :-)"

We’re 100% playing at Denver in week 18. 2021 at Denver, 2022 at LV, 2023 at LAC. Starting over again

Falcons posters on 𝕏 claiming our week 3 tilt at Atlanta is set for Sunday Night Football.

The #Falcons will have 3 primetime games within their first 5 weeks of the season.

Week 2 vs #Eagles on MNF
Week 3 vs #Chiefs on SNF
Week 5 vs #Buccaneers on TNF https://t.co/NNpTiayHOZ

Alright first 5 weeks for the falcons WILL BE.
Week 1 : Vs Steelers 1:00
Week 2 : @ Eagles 8:30 MNF
Week 3 : Vs Chiefs 8:30 SNF
Week 4 : @ Saints 1:00
Week 5 : Vs Buccaneers 8:30 TNF

THREE PRIME TIME GAMES IN THE FIRST FIVE WEEKS OF THE SEASON.
No doubt in my mind this will be…

The hype over the schedule release for the NFL is just crazy. It's just the schedule but it's getting more attention than NBA or NHL playoffs.
