It's the end of the world as we know it... and we feel... fine?

2018 is a season of transition for the Royals, or at least it is at this point. Dayton Moore is back. Will he swing full into THE PROCESS 2.0? Or will he try to load up again and make some reload magic happen?

Lineup looks solid until you notice two pitchers batting 8 and 9.

I know it's a small sample size but Junis, Karns, and Kennedy have looked good in spring traning. Duffy and Hammel have sucked. No other team will give anything for Duffy if he doesn't turn it around. If Hammel doesn't get better, which means he would not be of any value at the trade deadline, could be released early. One of the rejuvenation projects could take his spot.
:-)

How about if we let these guys at least pitch an inning or two in the real season before we write them both off?

If spring training stats were truly meaningful, Raul Adalberto Mondesi would have hit .400 last year.

This is true. But the more interesting thing he mentions is the success of Kennedy, Junis and Karnes. Spring Training or not, those are good signs for our rotation in Arizona where offensive numbers are inflated. Karnes has looked fantastic thus far.

No reason to be down on Duffy yet, but we know Hammell sucks.

Good signs from Kennedy, but i thought he was getting lucky in his last start. Several belt high fastballs over the middle of the plate were hard hit right at people.

If Hammel sucks when May 1st comes around, I wouldn't mind seeing Clay Buchholz get a shot. If he's not on the Major League roster on May 1st, he can opt out.

Buchholz has the higher ceiling; any chance the baseballs are dejuiced?

I don’t think hammel sucks, he just is a five inning, twice through the rotation starter. He’d be an OK No. 5 type for a team that’s smart enough to realize that and set up to cover his short stints.

Pulling a starter when it’s logical to pull them based on data is not a strength of Yost’s, and it never has been.

I think they probably let a little air out this year. I doubt they expected quite the dramatic effect it had last year.
