Have been banned from the other thread by an apparently sensitive snowflake (ironically after dozens of pages of political discussion from others) so I'll stick my thoughts on the NBA Playoffs here from now on. We needed a new thread anyway. [Reply]
Giannis is now averaging 31-14.5-4 on 63.6% shooting through two Finals games, and his team is +4 in his 75 minutes and -27 in the 21 minutes he's sat, and his knee folded the wrong way nine days ago
I've sure noticed a lot of Suns fans are whistling out of the woodwork around my town lately. There are people I've known for a long time that have never even mentioned basketball, let alone the Phoenix Suns, all of a sudden walking around like

That's pretty common and not much of an issue, IMO. It's fun and exciting when your city's team is on a Championship run.
I remember when Orlando was decent back in 2009/2010. There was a buzz in the city. You'd go downtown on a game night and there'd be massive watch parties and shit. It was a cool experience. [Reply]

As recently as 2019, QT’s in Phx gave two Suns tickets if you bought a 12 pack of Coke. Bandwagon gets pretty full during championship runs. [Reply]

That's why the "best fans" thing is bullshit. Let the St Loius Cardinals or Green Bay Packers be bottom feeders for 5-10 years and watch those fan bases dry up. It's easy to be a fan when your always near the top. [Reply]

Yeah, it's just brand loyalty, and some people don't care if the brand sucks. Plus, when a team sucks, it's not like there's a lot to talk about.
I listened to Royals games on the radio as a kid and caught most of them one way or another, collected cards, etc... but, eventually a bad product falls out of favor for other forms of entertainment. So, compared to someone who for some reason took pride in watching all that shit for years and years, I was more or less a bandwagoner for a few seasons, and now I've gone back to catching the occasional dramatic win on mlb.com.
Same for the Suns (and I'm just a transplant anyway).... they're fun and it's great people around here give a shit about sports for a little while. They've certainly grabbed my attention, but if they were to go back to being a bottom feeder next season.... meh, there's better stuff to do. :-) [Reply]

I've not watched the Suns for a couple of years. I'm not a band wagon fan, I'm a disenfranchised fan. Sarver has been a CRAPPY owner since forever and this time captured lightning in a bottle in his hire of James Jones and Monty Williams. I have no guilt in not supporting a team that's been a joke for the past decade. IMO didn't deserve much support. [Reply]
