Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]
Drew Lock has a better arm and reads defenses better than Mahomes. Mahomes doesn't read defense at all, he just throws it to his first or second target.
Mahomes is a grip and rip kinda player, not a high football IQ.

Video HERE of him throwing lefty at target practice of which he landed two.
Video HERE of him launching a long left-handed throw and almost hitting the crossbar.
The first tweet was from a three days ago so he's been working on them on different days. When he completed that pass to Tyreek In Denver I think that really opened up his imagination as to what is possible on the field. Before he had only done that In college to put the ball out of play but that pass was crucial in continuing the drive and he also tried it once more against the Chargers IIRC. Some might think he's just playing around in practice but I really think this is part of developing a left-hand game long-term so that when he has to leave the pocket and go left he will have much more options than your average QB who cannot throw left-handed. It could also be a lethal weapon on the goal-line too if defenses have no clue which hand you're gonna throw with.
Just looking at the practice throw and he's got his technique down pretty good and the ball had a spiral as well. I'm really happy that he's doing this because if he continues to develop this things could get crazy in a few years...it really could :-) . Gonna keep an eye out for more developments on this front and then we'll see if he throws some lefty passes In the pre-season games.
Yes, I think he is pretty serious about it and not just goofing around. An accurate dual-arm QB with ability to run around is an unstoppable force. [Reply]

It would be something the league has never seen before and that's why I think Pat is putting in the reps. All he needs to do is keep perfecting the mechanics and throwing motion then slowly pick the spots where he's comfortable throwing with that hand. Then it will be a matter of trying it in the seven on sevens etc and go from there. I see this like a boxer switching stances...it's gonna take time but if he's dedicated to doing it then it has the potential to take him to heights never seen before in the NFL. The work he puts him now could really pay off in a year or two. [Reply]
