Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.
Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:
If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point. [Reply]

Barbell, olympic plates, power rack, adjustable bench, something for pull ups and dips, and I have a set of adjustable dumbbells (power blocks) that I love.
You can do it pretty cheap if you use craigslist. Hell, even just an adjustable bench and DB's can take you pretty far. Ironmaster Super Bench is great, IMHO. [Reply]

Dude, you ever get into jumping jacks. Best workout ever ! I've been taking a break lately so I can gain some weight back, was getting too skinny, but I'd do as many sets of 50 as fast as I can and the weight just comes off and you get toned as shit. [Reply]

Never been coordinated enough. Can't get the timing down. I let myself lose a lot of muscle the past few years. School and work got a little crazy. Need a long/clean bulk. Not even gonna think about cutting until late summer/early fall. [Reply]
I started at 235 back in mid December. I'm at 220 and I've been eating better. Still not as good as I should. I've only been able to work out 1-2 times a week.
I need back exercises. My back is always bothering me with soreness. My lower back has been tight since the day my department gave me an Explorer to drive, which was four months ago. I know if something doesn't happen, surgery is in my later later future.
Any good suggestions to strengthen my back? [Reply]

Jumping Jacks are where its at though, Just do a few and gradually build up till you get your coordination down. Then you can do them anywhere at about any time. Stuck in traffic , jump out and knock out 20, BAM , 1/2 pound lost. Pushing a cart around Walmart , just stop somewhere and knock out 50, BAM, 1 pound lost. It ads up , you can literally lose 5-10 pounds a day. [Reply]

I might give them a shot again after my bulk but I've always hated cardio. I know I should do it for my heart but I can't stand it. I'm a nutrition nazi too so I'm hoping my cut won't be too crazy down the road. [Reply]

Yeah, you're at the time where Cardio needs to be a part of the rest of your life. Very important ! Take care of yourself NOW and moving forward. If you concentrate on bulking up it will not e good in the long run. I'm 53 so I can speak from experience.
Start your jumping jack routine today, Don't put it off. Get your friends and family involved . Go to the Y and start a JJ club. Be the best thing you ever did ! [Reply]

Fuck me. My brain has been processing this as "jump rope" until now. :-)
