I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Jeezus it's been a while since I checked in here. I've had a new job that required me to be away for 12+ hours a day usually thanks to an hour commute each way. I generally hit the gym at 5am. I was having a LOT of issues with staying motivated, so I've finally broken down and joined a group fitness class. Lots of tabata style circuit training and some CrossFit type timed stuff without the idiotic high rep Olympic lifts. One of the classes is for older folks (like me), and it incorporates a lot of great functional movements in it, which has been awesome.

I still try to go heavy two days a week as well with deadlifts, weighted pullups, military, and incline bench.

I've also REALLY gotten into mountain biking (our trails around here are insane), and I usually ride for 2-4 hours every weekend, which has done a lot for my overall fitness as well. I'm pretty lean and mean currently, especially for a 44 year old, and my functional movement kicks ass when I compare it to other people way younger.

As for diet, I still do IF every other day, but my diet is pretty shitty thanks to the long hours and my son being in wrestling season for the last 5 months which involves practice 3 nights a week. We've certainly fallen for the convenience of eating out.

Anyway, I'm not nearly as serious about it as I used to be, but I'm still doing alright and maintaining while I'm in the grind of this job for the next few years. Hopefully I'll get something closer to home in the future.

If you go heavy make sure you keep core engaged and don't arch back.
That's the exercise I do but I can't say I keep my wrists straight and don't go past 90 degrees. I'll try it this way and see what happens.

Dang. Nice fucking work.

The biggest misconception people have is the sheer amount of weight they must lose to get that shredded. When people see you at your highest weight (220? maybe) they think you'd look shredded if you lost 20lbs, when in reality it's more like 30-40lbs.

Also:

I'm completely obsessed now with gymnastic strength training, and I'd be doing it if I could find a program. Check out gymansticbodies on instagram.

Trying to convince my 9 year old, who wrestles, to get into gymnastics in the offseason. He did some parkour classes, but the actual training in those was pretty weak. Mainly just a bunch of trampolines and vaulting.

That's where I'm at. Currently 230 but need to get to around 200 I'd imagine (I'm 6'2)

I am not that lean. I like to eat and never cut. I need to though since I will be at Cayman Island in two months.

How tall are you?

Once you get started it isnt too horrible. Right now Im 6'2 220 and would like to get 225 before I cut in April. Id like to come on a little bigger and give the Classic Physique class a try.

That's pretty drastic. Most guys drop 20-40 on a 12 week prep.

I am the softest 215 you can be. Hopefully just lose pounds and stay alright for the summer.

I am 5'8" 185.. Going to start a new supplement cycle at start of March and try to cut up until mid April when I leave for the beach. Should be able to drop 15-20 and look good.
