Nzoner's Game Room>Let's talk about the Chargers
Hammock Parties 01:25 AM 09-23-2024
#Chargers Justin Herbert - High ankle re-aggravation. Walking w/full weight = no fracture. Lean towards playing Wk 4. MRI Mon

#Chargers Joey Bosa - Lean towards missing Wk 4. Re-aggravation often worse than initial injury

#Chargers Rashawn Slater - Pec for OL = heavily involved in blocking. High risk of missing Wk 4

#Chargers Joe Alt - Ankle. O-line often able to play the next wk but severity varies. Prob MRI pending

#NFL Injury Updates:#Lions Sam LaPorta - Video suggests low ankle. X-ray + returning = no fracture. Lean towards playing Wk 4. Practice = key#Chargers Justin Herbert - High ankle re-aggravation. Walking w/full weight = no fracture. Lean towards playing Wk 4. MRI Mon

You MIGHT be able to pull that off if you're Shanahan and you have a loaded roster around your dirt cheap QB, but Herbert's contract will be a cap impediment that prevents them from building that super-team around him.

So he HAS to be developed and used as a force multiplier. And giving him a premier LT (Slater) and solid RT with arguably the best young WR in football is a far smarter path forward than what Harbaugh did.

What Harbaugh did is a classic case of a coach being dogmatic and building his team around his system instead of tailoring his system to fit his team.

It's the mark of a mid-wit head coach who thinks he's more accomplished and intelligent than he is.

And I, for one, welcome it.
It's great!

My favorite move is that, on top of drafting a LT to move him to RT instead of a dynamic WR who breaks ankles like crazy, he ALSO brought in an offensive coordinator whose passing offenses designs are routinely laughed at/mocked, when he has a golden-armed passing QB (who happens to be athletic).

And then they come into the season with that guy dealing with plantar fascitis AND CALL ZONE READ PLAYS for him. And he gets hurt.

You hate to see it, but mostly you fucking love to see it.

Matt Ryan's the equivalent of a coach who took a franchise that sucked for a decade to three straight NFC championships and a SB, with Alex Smith and Kaepernick (and then won a college national championship)?

All righty.

:-):-)

A team making picks that high in the draft for years better improve. Even the Browns did it

Danna is out this week. Big opportunity for Felix

They'll play Pimples through this and bye bye Achilles!

This is a game we SHOULD win by two plus scores.

Which means we'll squeak it out by 3 with no time on the clock.

4-0, baby. Just win.

Also should mean Cam Thomas debut. Exciting opportunities. Would be great if they show enough that we can give Danna next week off too before the early bye. Calf injuries aren't to be fooled with.

Hell, I'd sit Danna against the Saints no matter what.

These games matter, but then again they don't. I think his value to the team in the postseason is great enough that you don't take any unnecessary chances this early on.

It's very hard to beat a division opponent by that much. Like you said, just win.

He will turn that team around but it takes time. There's a lot of issues with that organization and team.

I say now that I’m fine with any win, but I’ll be pissed and embarrassed in the GDT when the game is close.

I hope Herbert plays personally.

Playing on a high ankle to win a ring like Patrick did - a whole other thing compared to what Herby is doing which is quite stupid. Especially with your BYE so close.

It sounds like he's going to play. The Chargers really are that stupid.

I've heard Chris Long talk about playing on a high ankle, which he says he did back in STL during a contract year, and he says the impact of doing that is still a bother to this day. The ankle remains more stiff than the other and loses flexibility permanently.

Now, with PM, he's got those gumby ligaments where I wouldn't be surprised if his double-jointedness helps him rebound from that injury (and others he's had).

But Herby was already a pretty stiff player on the field. This can't help.

And it’s not just Herbert either.

He may well be without his starting OTs, best pass rusher, and best DB.

Not just risking this for a regular season game, but for one in the which he’ll be playing at a major disadvantage even when healthy.

Oh gosh, that makes even it more asinine.

Chris Jones is gonna play where's Waldo all day long and wreck shit. He will know it's a stat pad opportunity.
