One has to think it will affect a trade market for Duffy even if he comes back and makes the all star game. No one will want to be the team that gives up something good only to have him blow the UCL in his first start. [Reply]
Tony La Russa already losing a battle with the Sox clubhouse after publicly admonishing Mercedes for swinging at a 3-0 pitch up 11 yesterday.
The Sox has been completely united behind Mercedes, with multiple players liking a tweet saying **** Tony La Russa. Good work by the Sox hiring him, destroying that clubhouse is the best hope we likely have to remain in the race this year, tho the Sox are likely talented enough to overcome Scott Pioli and Dan Snyder as co-managers if they had to. Not his best night, but showed some flashes. Two really bad strikeouts on bad pitches. Hit a nice hard single and stole second. Also had a hard opposite-field line drive that was caught at the wall. [Reply]

And to add to it, Tony just said he had no problem with the Twins throwing at Mercedes today. WOW. [Reply]

Wouldn’t be the first time Tony screwed up handling a Mercedes
La Russa is a danger to his own players. To be clear, I'm talking about as a manager, but also probably if he ever gave one of them a ride home https://t.co/MBB149izuB

Hard to know what to make of them. They have the best record in the AL, best run differential. They're getting it done.
Yet they're missing two of their best young stars, their manager is openly dissing his own players and not defending them when they get thrown at, and their former manager Ozzie Guillen is pretty much angling for the job in their pregame and postgame shows. This just seems like too much of a circus to end well. [Reply]
