Would be great if the Mahomes connection can help there, as Dahl has more upside than anyone else they could add. He’s also still young and has 3 years of arb control left.

Texas will be the second major league franchise for the 26-year-old Dahl, who spent the first several seasons of his professional career as a member of the Colorado organization. Dahl is a former No. 10 overall pick and top 100 prospect who was a successful hitter with the Rockies for most of his time there (which spanned from 2016-20), but after he recorded woeful production last season, the Rockies moved on at the non-tender deadline a week ago. Instead of paying Dahl a projected $2.5MM to $2.7MM for 2021, Colorado cut him loose.

Watson has spent the last 14 seasons with the Royals, the last three as the team’s senior director of pro scouting and a special assistant to GM Dayton Moore. Watson previously worked as a scout with the Padres, Braves, and Marlins before coming to Kansas City, and his long career as a respected evaluator put him on the radar for general manager openings in the past. Of greatest relevance, Watson interviewed for the Angels’ job before Minasian was hired, and Watson also spoke with the Astros about their GM vacancy last offseason.

The Kansas City Royals announced on Monday that they have re-signed free agent pitcher Greg Holland. He is returning on a one-year deal worth $2.75 million, a source told MLB.com. The team has not confirmed the terms of the deal.
Holland, 35, went 3-0 with six saves and a 1.91 ERA (6 ER in 28.1 IP) in 28 appearances with the Royals in 2020. The right hander ranked fifth among Major League relievers (min. 25.0 IP) in ERA, eighth in WHIP (0.95) and eighth in opponents’ average (.200). Of his 28 appearances, 23 were scoreless, which tied for third most in the Majors behind teammate Scott Barlow (25) and the Angels’ Mike Mayers (24). Holland finished the season with a 13.1-inning scoreless streak, which spanned his final 13 appearances from Aug. 26 through season’s end.
The 2020 season marked Holland’s second stint with the Royals, after spending his first six Major League seasons from 2010-15 in Kansas City, the franchise that selected him in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft. Holland ranks fourth in franchise history with 151 saves, behind only Jeff Montgomery (304), Dan Quisenberry (238) and Joakim Soria (162). His 81 career saves at Kauffman Stadium are third most in the 48-year history of the ballpark, trailing only Montgomery (131) and Quisenberry (113).
Holland is a three-time All-Star and owns 212 career saves and a 2.90 ERA (157 ER in 487.1 IP) over his 10 seasons in the Majors. [Reply]

At the end of the Kansas City Star story about the re-signing of Greg Holland, it had this piece of information.

So maybe the signing by the Royals of Joc Pederson, Michael Brantley, or Jackie Bradley Jr could still happen? [Reply]

Jackie Bradley Jr. would be my favorite too.
I was pretty surprised by the dollar amounts on the contracts for Mike Minor and Carlos Santana.
To be able to sign a player like a Jackie Bradley Jr, the Royals had to begin with deals like Minor, Santana, and Holland, showing that KC might be interested in competing for 2021.
The 1 year, $1.75 million for Michael A. Taylor shouldn't keep KC from trying to sign a good outfielder.
I'm not saying the Royals are getting ready to sign one of these high dollar guys, only a message of hope that KC is starting to spend some money and Dayton Moore said they are looking for left handed hitting outfielders.
Maybe as you suspect, they are committed to Michael A. Taylor, they might sign someone like former Royals Brian Goodwin or Jarrod Dyson to split time. That does not sound very good to me. [Reply]

Royals so far have signed Mike Minor for 2 year, $18 million and Carlos Santana, 2 year $17.5 million.
Seems like Pederson or Bradley might be affordable for the Kansas City Royals.
