It's the end of the world as we know it... and we feel... fine?
2018 is a season of transition for the Royals, or at least it is at this point. Dayton Moore is back. Will he swing full into THE PROCESS 2.0? Or will he try to load up again and make some reload magic happen?
Pending Free Agents:
1B | Eric Hosmer | San Diego Padres, 8 years, $144 million ($5 million signing bonus; $20 million/year in Yrs 1-5; $13 million/year in Yrs 6-8 wth player opt out)
Spoiler!
(DI's Guess: Texas Rangers, 6, $118 million)
3B | Mike Moustaskas | Kansas City Royas, 1, $6.5 million
Spoiler!
(DI's Guess: Los Angeles Angels, 5, $98 million)
CF | Lorenzo Cain | Milwaukee Brewers, 5 years, $80 million
Spoiler!
(DI's Guess: San Francisco Giants, 4, $68 million)
RP | Mike Minor | Texas Rangers, 3, $28 million
Spoiler!
(DI's Guess: Los Angeles Angels, 3, $35 million+ $12 million team option
SP | Jason Vargas | New York Mets, 2, $16 million
Spoiler!
(DI's Guess: Baltimore Orioles, 2, $29 million)
SS | Alcides Escobar | Kansas City Royals, 1, $2.5 million
In case I, picks would be #32, 33, and 34, if Alex Cobb of Rays signs for $50 million guaranteed.
Kansas City will likely have 5 of the top 40-45 picks in the draft, and the bonus pool money should rival that of the teams drafting 1-3 in the 2017 draft. This should give KC tremendous flexibility in acquiring talent that otherwise might slip or not be "signable."
2018 Draft Names to Watch
RHP Kumar Rocker, N Oconnee HS, Georgia.
Spoiler!
Possibly goes top 10 but is a big, physical SP with ace potential. Moore and co. will be all over him if he slips a bit and could offer top 10 money at No. 16
OF Jarred Kelenic, Waukasha West HS, WI
Spoiler!
Kelenic is the top prep bat, toolsy OF. Royals would be ecstatic to have shot at him.
1B Triston Casas, American Heritage HS (FL).
Spoiler!
Tremendous raw power, best in HS bats. Royals typically like HS arms or HS bats with "special" tools. He qualifies.
RHP Carter Stewart, Eau de Gallie HS (Ga).
Spoiler!
Another big, physical specimen with huge upside. More likely to be available mid-first than Rocker.
ANY Any, Any (Any). Any current top projected pick who slides for injury concerns. Includes current top prospect prospect SP Brady Singer, U of Florida. [Reply]

Give it up. I've had my company "indoctrinate" their leftist shit onto me for 20 years. Not everything at your workplace is done for your enjoyment.
The NFL sent a Dolphin to "sensitivity training" for dissing Michael Sams on twitter for gods sake. [Reply]

Did they send you to seminars?
In all reality I'll say this while I think you should have some training on how not to say shit in public or be a problem at work with beliefs I also think that shit goes way to far. [Reply]
Duncan I'll trade beer for fantasy knowledge... though you'd probably be disappointed on two pre draft trades I completed and not wanna accept the beer.
Regarding the Dayton Moore Crusade: I think it pushes the bounds of what is professional in any context but there should definitely be some introspection on the role it plays in our society (which I think is a net negative). But this is a baseball thread not porn thread. [Reply]

I will suspend you for a violation of our porn policy son. [Reply]
You know from now on when I see a Royals player violated team rules I will picture they got caught looking at porn on their phone in a dark bathroom stall and Dayton Moore flung the door open yelling "AHA!" [Reply]

Gonna sound like I'm blithely trolling here, but isn't the Royals' FO obligated to restrict porn access in club facilities in order to promote a non hostile environment? [Reply]

Players can afford a VPN which would get around any type of blocking. Also how would anyone else know what you look at on your phone especiallhy in the bathroom!?! And I more meant at like a hotel or something but yea.
Anyway someone should make a picture of Dayton Moore with a meme that says "Dayton Moore, Porn Police"

Or something similar that would be great.
Classic meme of "Every time you masturbate, a Domokun kills a kitten"
Except instead of some Japanese animated character chasing a clatch of adorable kittens... It's an angered Dayton Moore. [Reply]

That was never an option. Disagree with it? I think it's fair. But tanking is no guarantee of anything.
Thanks and yes, I completely disagree with it.
Sure, it's not a guarantee of future success but that's only if they make the worst possible decisions when it comes to the draft, which I suppose is a possibility considering the state of their farm system.
What I've seen in this thread and from the Royals front office is way too much sentimentality. It's great that the Royals won the 2015 World Series with Moustakas, Perez, Cain, et al, but those days are long gone. The White Sox have loaded up their Farm, the Twins are improving and Cleveland is clearly the best team in the Division and will likely challenge the Astros as the best team in the AL.
Playing "not embarrassing baseball" does nothing for the franchise long term, other than keeping the stadium relatively busy as well as their local TV ratings relatively popping.
IMO, they're just pushing the inevitable a bit further down the road. [Reply]
