KU was 33-44 from the stripe against WVU (75%) which basically won them the game ... any time KU can shoot 75% at the FT line with that volume this year you should be ecstatic.

Of course, that was basically thanks to Mason going 16-18.

Hell, against WVU, the only guy who struggled from the strip was Lucas (2-7). Anyone remember the 'Cuse game the Carmello year when KU went 12-30? :-) - that's like a kicker who shall go unnamed game from the stripe.

I have no problem with him. He's not wrong here. If he says something that is wrong, I'll call him out on it.

While I do believe you guys (I was a very good FT shooter in HS and even won a middle school FT contest 3 years in a row) it is an oddity for high school kids to be great FT shooters. Most HS kids shoot FT's in the 50% to 60%s. I should know, I kept stats on our bench and we were 26-1 in HS because I was the 11th man scrub.

This takes me back to a prop bet I had with some dude at the poker table, he seemed to think there was a correlation to lesser athletic people shooting FT's better than athletic ones. In our bet it was that D1 college basketball players shot FT's at a better percentage than NBA players. End result, he was wrong, I won $100. Off topic, There also appears to be a very large correlation to FT shooting and one's ceiling for 3 point shooting.

Trae Young announces his decision tomorrow. He's under pressure to stay home so it's probably gonna be Oklahoma.

To maybe put a little perspective to it... their FT% is 312th in D1, 377/582, 64.8% in 26 games.... 14.5/22.38 per game.

If they hit one more free throw per game, they would be tied around 193rd with a few other teams. Two more per game and they'd be around 63rd and 2nd in the Big 12.

Obviously, a couple points could still mean death in the tournament, and a bad night from the line for them is going to be worse than a simply below average night for most other teams, but I'd personally be more worried about them having a bad night shooting 3s, since that's obviously what carries them.

I agree if he's here. Sources in the AD office indicate that he's gone regardless of if he gets drafted in the NBA or not. He doesn't care if he plays in Europe as long as he's getting paid to play. Can't say I blame him when the lifespan of basketball player to get paid to play is anywhere from 21 - 35 yrs old.

:-)

It'll be Europe. A guy like Graham needs to stay in school so he has something tangible to draw off of after basketball.

I'm not sure where this kid's head is at. He's not a one and done player likely so he's gonna have to watch KU win more than his team for a few years if he chooses OU (Trevon Duval is the better PG in this class btw). He's a scoring PG so he probably sees OU in selfish eyes that he can do whatever he wants there and it's home. Self has said he's got the keys to the program if he chooses KU. He'll be Frank Mason he told him. This isn't a hard decision unless like I said, he'd rather throw up whatever shots he wants all game with nobody to answer to.

Devonte Graham, clutch as he is, is not a NBA basketball player. Don't see a good reason why he'd leave next year.
