First baseman Carlos Santana and the Kansas City Royals are in agreement on a two-year, $17 million deal, sources confirm to ESPN. Royals had been heavy in the first base market and get a veteran with power and on-base skills. @JonHeyman was first on the deal.

Agree on Lopez. Would love another OF (move Whit back to 2b) or a better 2B option.
Mondesi looked amazing at the end of the year. I think a lot of people missed that because Chiefs. But in the month of September Mondesi hit .350 with 6 HR, 20 RBI and 16 steals. Superstar stuff.
I think that's a huge reason Dayton's going for it. It wasn't just one or two good series at the end... that whole month of September they looked solid. Mondesi was great, Salvy was hitting like Mike Piazza, young guys like Singer and Bubic pitched great and there were a bunch of good arms in the bullpen. Might as well try to add some pieces to build off that. [Reply]
With the Carlos Santana signing, I guess Hunter Dozier will move back to 3B or outfield.
We are paying him too much to use him part time, but looking at Carlos's splits, he should probably split time with a 1B that hits Right Hand pitching. [Reply]
