Nzoner's Game Room>The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
Dayze 11:41 AM 06-07-2013
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.

Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16)

Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you:

Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere
Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel)
C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel

Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too.
http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75

I mean that in a good way.

dont' you have the Triumph Tiger? (can't remember)
Yep, Tiger 800XC. And I really love it, but the thing is huge. With the Triumph you gotta be careful and not get yourself in a jam. I have found myself being on a fire road that turns into a single track and not having the strength, or room to turn around when it gets to ugly for a big bike. It is a fun bike on Gravel and Double Track but it has its limitations.

No, its actually a Scrambler (800cc), but its more then just a poser like last years Ducati Scrambler release.
This has a beefier frame, longer travel, better swing arm.
Desert Sleds were popular in the late 60's early 70's. Many of them were Brit bikes like Triumph, BSA etc..
Read about their evolution here.

So is this Ducati an Adventure Bike?
Probably not by definition, but I think it could fill that purpose.
I imagine Triumph Excecs are hitting their forehead just on Ducati grabbing the term Desert Sled. They should have been all over it.
For comparison: The Triumph Street Scrambler.

I missed this, sorry stevieray.
All Clutch.
1973 LT2 100 (I have two of these. One is the classic purple and there are a lot of those available. I also have a limited edition green which has the low pipe and street seat.
1973 Suzuki GT 185. This is a Twin and has Square heads. Little thing rips it up wing ding style.
1971 Honda CL350 Scram. Rebuilt last year, typical orange but the mufflers were in awesome shape so I purchased. Fun project and turns lots of heads

I also have a Maico 400. We originally thought it was a 1977, but it turns out to be a 1974.5. Maicos are weird in that the factory really didn't care about parts and years. They just put bikes out. It has the coffin tank and radial heads. If you want to bust a leg try kicking this over. In their era Maico's were the fastest shit around

Yeah, I really liked the Cross Country, and was going to look into one when it came time to buy a new bike. Guess it's Harley or bust now if I want a fairinged bagger that doesn't look like it's been hit with the ugly stick.

Yeah, that is how I feel. I love my Cross Country, just hate what it does to the resell value and the aftermarket parts market.

DAMN.
that blows hard.

Victory's are solid scoots.
more than solid, actually. and engineered at least (if not better) as good as HD.
I liked a lot of what Victory had; right side drives, partial oil cooled (I think), gear driven timing (I think? aren't they OHC?), lots of power, good looks.

welp, expect HD prices to continue to rise to ridiculous levels now that a competitor is out of the way.

Well that sucks teh penis

If they would have done more than just update the paint on the bikes over the past few years they would have been able to stick around

Polaris bringing back Indian and that stupid Slingshot shit killed Victory

Never really could get into the Victory brand. I think its because their style of bikes always feeled like they were directed at the bagger market and I'm more into the naked sport.

Truly a bummer. I liked them a lot and spoke with owners that were pleased.
The article spoke of drastic cuts on new models to liquidate, but it would be hard to justify buying a bike brand doomed. I would worry about sourcing parts and resale down the line.
