After Sunday, you’d think that would stop.
I don't think it's a matter of respect for Jones, as much as it is respect for CB as a premium position over interior DL. Yes, they are both vital, and yes the quickest path to the QB is up the middle. But advanced statistics are starting to really show that great coverage creates sacks and is far more disruptive than pressure.
When watching the Pats game, take a look at their average time holding the ball before a pass. It's under 2.5 seconds. If Brady holds the ball longer than 3 seconds, his accuracy drops WAY down. Just getting him to go to that second read is so valuable.
I don't want us to trade Jones. He's looked outstanding so far this year.
But really guys, you have the opportunity (maybe) to go from the a position of real concern, one of your weakest, to having the best player in the league there. If we had a real issue with running backs and suddenly you could trade for Kamara, we'd be saying the same thing. If we had no interior push, and you could get Aaron Donald, you do it.
That's what we're looking at here. Ramsey is up there with Donald and Michael Thomas and Ezekiel Elliot and Khalil Mack. Personally, I'd far prefer to draft a Jalen Ramsey, but unfortunately the Super Bowl happens before then. [Reply]
