I think it is part budget as well. If you can spread the season budget over only 7 episodes instead of 10, then you can do a lot more in those 7 episodes in terms of special effects and CGI. When you think about the amount of CGI it will take to finish this series right with white walkers fighting dragons, I think the money might be a factor in the idea of shortening the final two seasons.
You might even see 8 episodes and 6 episodes, or something like that where each season gets shorter. They could even do a full length movie for the ending, it would be awesome to get movie level budgets for GoT. [Reply]
