Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]
Dan Marino is football royalty. Almost any quarterback would be flattered to be mentioned in the same breath as the legendary Hall of Famer.
But in Patrick Mahomes' case, such a comparison could be a cautionary tale.
It's been 34 years since Marino — he was in his second season in 1984 — took the NFL by storm, shattering passing records by the bushel while amazing his peers with a lightning release and a bazooka arm. His transcendent performance — he was named league MVP after throwing for a mind-blowing 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns ... in 1984 — fueled the league's top-ranked offense and helped carry the Miami Dolphins, who didn't play much defense or bother to run the ball with much commitment, all the way to Super Bowl XIX.
Sound familiar?
So we're going to lose in our only SB appearance in 48 years and not return? [Reply]

The AFC was much weaker back then.
Marino beat a soft Seahawk team in Miami and destroyed a 9-7 Steelers team to win the AFC. There were no Bradys, Rivers, or Lucks
Elway was just a kid who threw a crucial interception to lose to the Steelers. Totally different era. I wish we could go back to the 80s AFC. Tired of these 40 year old MONSTAR quarterbacks like Brady, Ben, and Rivers [Reply]

Right guys?
I was at Stubhub week 1 and that crowd is terrible. [Reply]

243 yards. Brees has 7 (yes 7) games where he threw for 243 or fewer. Mahomes has one in his whole career and we lose
If we had New Orleans defense we’re probably 13-1
On the flip, I bet we lose to the Ravens, Broncos away, Cardinals (maybe) in addition to our current losses if we had Brees instead of Mahomes this season. [Reply]

He led two touchdown drives in the second half. We averaged a TD per quarter
How strange is it that 28 points against a top ten defense is considered “shutdown”.
We never came close to even averaging 28ppg with Alex Smith. Ravens and Chargers have good defenses, and we are not healthy (offensive Guards, Watkins, and Ware all hurt). Boy oh boy have the expectations been RAISED [Reply]

I don't think Mahomes has hit a wall. I think the lack of a good running game is allowing defenses to approach how to play the Chiefs offense differently. If you take Hill and Kelce out of the play, who else is going to step up? Harris, Conley, Williams_X2? [Reply]

Mahomes is fine. It’s the play calling with a lead. [Reply]

Lack of running that’s on fat Andy. D. Williams had 10 carries for 49 yards that’s it. They ran 17 times 5 of those where Patrick and Hill [Reply]

The biggest issue is we only had 4 freaking drives in the second half. [Reply]
