Sources: The #Chiefs are closing in on signing star TE Travis Kelce to a long-term extension – at least 5 years – that keeps him in a KC uniform catching passes from Patrick Mahomes for the foreseeable future. Keeping their best players...
Very quietly, KC and the agents for Travis Kelce have been working on an extension to pay him according to his production. This should be done in the next day or so. The #Chiefs continue to do work. https://t.co/maqWkpFQD3

This is one of those times I am happy I am wrong.
BTW, where is Clark getting all this recently found money?
To the Victor goes the spoils-or whatever that saying is

Most of this money isn't due right now, and also with our two holdouts that cleared some room
Packers just paid a nose tackle $70M for 4 years. That makes the Kittle and Kelce deals look even better. Packers guy is not exactly Aaron Donald, but getting paid quite a bit more than two incredible tight ends who have a major impact on the game.

We are paying the money in the future. Giving the player his guaranteed money in the contract but not paying it out now. Looks to be the Veach playbook for contracts. But, it takes players willing to take less than top market money and not getting that guaranteed money right now.
We had $177 of cap room this off season. We see what happened. So us being $40 million over the cap next year ain't no big deal for Veach.
[Kelce] Dear KC... from my heart!!! #ChiefsKingdom #DreamsComeTrue. (Kelce’s first puchase after his contract extension is a building in Kansas City where teenagers from inner-city neighborhoods can safely study STEM)
