Man, I don't know about Ramsey. He's another Marcus Peters if you ask me. There's no guarantee we sign him long term either, A 1st and 3rd for a one/two year rental is not a good deal. [Reply]

Seriously. How many HOF quality players would that give KC?
Mahomes
Hill
Kelce
Ramsey
Schwartz?
Jones?
Part of getting Ramsey most likely includes him signing a long term deal. I doubt he is ever going to be super cheap for us. [Reply]

You never know,
Being on a team that could make the SB for the next 3 years could make him take a discount.

He has the rest of this year, and next year on his current contract. He is 24 right now. What if we extended his contract for 3 years, and gave him say a 60 million signing bonus? 60 spread over 5 seasons is a 12 million (plus the yearly base salary) cap hit per season. He is 29 at the tail end of the contract.

Some players do in order to go to a winning team with a Real Chance at a SB.
Completely disagree. I don't know that I've ever heard of a case where the FIRST real contract a player gets was taken at a discount. There may be rare circumstances, but it isn't the norm. This will be Ramsey's first contract outside of his rookie deal, he's going to want the major payday his talent warrants. He showed up to training camp in a freaking Brinks truck. He wants to get paid. I certainly don't blame him for that.
Chris Jones was asking for Aaron Donald type money and he's already on our team. I just don't believe in the "take less money" to play on our team sort of thing, and it comes off as overly naive. Maybe veterans looking for a ring fall into this category, but younger players in their prime? Not so much. Brady does this because his wife makes more than enough money...he could play for free. Just spit-balling on the numbers as an example, so don't shoot me.
I like it. Not sure Ramsey or his agent will. I would not be surprised in the slightest if they are expecting a contract close to $100 million. [Reply]
