Media Center>Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8
keg in kc 02:23 PM 05-24-2017
About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

I think that was also a nod to book readers.

Rheagar was always described as looking like a taller and stronger Viserys, and it was said that Viserys did everything possible to style himself after the last dragon.

That makes sense. It's been a long time since I've read the books, but from what I remember all the Targaryens have that same look.

Well, except for one. :-)

How is the NK even beatable right now?

1. Huge army.
2. Anybody he kills....instantly gets added to his army.
3. Now has a dragon that seems to be faster and more powerful than the other two.

Cersei's scorpion with a dragon glass tipped bolt could make quick work of zombie Viserion.

By utilizing the obvious time travel/teleporting abilities our heroes have in this series, they will build an entire dragon glass wall that will stop that army dead.

Dragon Glass tipped Scorpion.

And all they have to do is kill the NK now. They don't have to win a war against a horde of zombies.

They just have to kill one guy. Writers gave themselves an easy out in the second to last episode.

I already knew the gist of what was going to happen because I can't stay away from spoilers. That being said, I read a full recap of this episode a few days back that was basically a scene by scene description. That was the one moment that I wish I hadn't read about because I don't think I would have seen it coming, even though I knew that Arya killed Littlefinger in this episode. It was really well done and done in a very GRRM fashion.

So i guess im one of the only one's a little underwhelmed by the season finale.

There was no moment in which i was like, "no ****ing way i can't believe that happened".

WHERE THE FUCK IS GHOST!?!?!

Look...I know the dragons cost a ton when it comes to CGI....but can we at least get an excuse as to where he is? Just a...."hey....Ghost is back at Winterfell....protecting Sansa.". Fucking anything. We're supposed to believe that Jon's #1 companion is just nowhere around during this entire time?
Well there was a scene a few episodes ago where Sansa says "Jon just expects us to stay here and wait like Ghost".

Or do you need a whole scene to explain to you that the "actor" died and the show finds Dragons and White Walkers more important at this time.

I didn't express the 'joke' clearly enough. That was supposed to be Baelish in the gif, not the viewer.

You're dumb. The wolf isn't dead.

Eh, I think that's just the nature of what the show has to be in order for this to work. Next season, the good guys are gonna defeat the bad guys. Cersei is probably going to finally get what's been coming to her. A number of main characters that are good guys are gonna die in battles at the end.

There's just not much room left beyond that at this point.

No, of course not. We're on a high speed plot train now where everything is getting railroaded. The "no way!" moments tend to complicate things. They're all about simplifying and getting to a satisfactory conclusion.

I've made peace with it. If D&D can just wrap everything satisfactorily, give us lots of eye candy, and not just completely ruin my love for the series (which GRRM is attempting to do with his inability to write), then I'll be satisfied.

I was definitely underwhelmed. In a perfect world, the events of the last two episodes would have been spread over three or four weeks.
