The SP wasn’t special outside of Carpenter, but the Pujols-Edmonds-Riley trio was a nasty middle of the order.
My wife and I were supposed to have our first date on the Thursday night of game 7 against the Astros. I sent her an email telling her I was going to skip what I’d said I would do (watch her in her sorority’s skit for Greek Week) but invited her to meet me at Harpo’s afterwards.
Just turned the game on. Edmonds is a mess. You'd think they'd try to get someone else up there to fill in for him, but I guess that might be easier said than done since they're on the road. [Reply]

They might be able to get Hayes up there. Other possibility would be to get the radio color guy there and have Rooney go solo. [Reply]

Now I just need to go get that winning lottery ticket to top off the weekend.
Teams cooked. Even with the core group healthy they struggle to score runs because your complimentary players are guys like Bote, Happ, Russell, Almora, Descalso and Kemp. Now take Baez out for a couple weeks with a fractured thumb, put Bryant on the bench with a fucked up knee and its game over.
At this point I can only hope the Diamondbacks pass them up for the 2nd wildcard spot because if last years embarrassment to end the season brought you Daniel fucking Descalso in the off season I can't wait to see what the off season following the teams first failure to make the playoffs since 2015 brings. You can have Fowler back, and will throw in Carpenter for free.:-) [Reply]
