Maybe spot the ball at the 20...
Nah, there are already so many advantages for an offense at the goal line. If you're stupid enough to lose control of the ball before your break the plane, AND you boof it so bad it goes out of bounds THROUGH the EZ, I'm fine with a big sanction for that. Keeps it interesting.
Kind of like 'there's holding on every play, no fair just because they flag you in your own EZ it results in a safety.' Some rules are harsh and seem capricious. It's the capricious part we look to avoid, but you really can't with this particular specific play. [Reply]

Agreed. I actually really, really like the rule.
Makes it more entertaining/interesting to casual fans, if nothing else. [Reply]

I think there still is, but it's certainly a lot longer than 30 seconds. And I don't think it includes the time to get over to the sideline, pull out the laptop, and then talk about the details after (time on the clock, yard line, etc.).
Seems like even the shortest reviews require at least 2 minutes of game stoppage.
At this point, I just hope they move to the "sky judge" model where one dude in the booth has complete authority to overrule stuff. Was something wrong? If so, call it down. Fix it on the field. Move on. [Reply]
