As much as I dont agree with Sutton's calls at times, there's not much you can do to scheme around injuries with the 3rd/4th stringers they have on the field. They are starting guys in their secondary that wouldn't make other teams' rosters. [Reply]

Let's check in on how each defensive mind thinks:
NE not only follows Kelce with man coverage, shifts the pass rusher to chip him, but then inside-outside brackets him. Literally left zero chance that the Chiefs were going to win with Kelce in the RZ (or most of the game) pic.twitter.com/Upxrbk8QS8
KC runs straight forward C1 man with no attempt at disguising. Not only that, they put the newest addition, Josh Shaw, in man coverage on Gronk on an island while Lucas plays man on a RB and Parker sits CF. Brady IDs this immediately, no adjustment just "go press Gronk kid". pic.twitter.com/oVAnivjhR3
What do you expect any DC to do in this situation with our personnel?
Chiefs LB’s could not cover RB’s James White/Sony Michel out of the flat. They were also getting burned outside by Edelman, Gordon and Hogan.
Gronk had 1 catch until the last drive (literally). That last drive Brady was going to the RB over and over again killing us so Sutton shifted to protect against that.
We double Gronk and they just beat us with somebody else like they were the entire game.
Also not sure why you’re bringing up Belichick’s film. He took away Kelce? Okay he also got destroyed the same as Sutton. 4 TD’s and 31 points in one half to Tyreek/Hunt. [Reply]
Stop crying about the personnel. Bob Sutton doesn't get that excuse because he refuses to give the players Veach got for him a chance. Niemann and ODaniel didn't get a single snap on defense. "But, but, but they don't know the defense!^!&!". Get ****ed. Eric Murray was playing like literal AIDS before he got forced off the field by injury, and Jordan Lucas immediately outplayed him. Ragland and Smith are playing so badly you could probably sign people off the streets and they'd not be much worse. Get them off the field and replace them with young, hungry players.
As a unit, these guys fucking suck. No doubt about it. But when competent football players like Hitchens and Fuller are put into this system and immediately deteriorate, something is seriously wrong. [Reply]

Totally agree.
All this reminds me of how the pro Alex people defended Smith. New QB this season- look what happens...
Maybe the results wouldn't improve dramatically at this point with Sutton gone, but I bet just the fact that there would be change would net some positive effect. I'm not one for "changing for change sake," or making huge in-season changes, but there is enough issues on defense to warrant change after the season. Just my opinion. [Reply]

Funny you mention this because they literally did sign Josh Shaw off the street and played him. Let’s see what the result was:

How can a new player "not know" this efense. Basically you stand upright and try and arm tackle. Secondary runs behind receivers and grabs their arms. Being in the correct position is obviously not important since the veterans don't do it.

based on that patriots fan sign we should go with the "yellow brick road" [Reply]

Yes, because a 6th string safety getting fucked by Bob Sutton by being asked to cover Gronkowski 1 on 1 is the same as Reggie Ragland and Terrance Smith being absolutely awful at their job and not being held accountable for it. [Reply]
gotta love that the linebackers are so useless in coverage Sutton is using every warm body at corner and safety to even cover running backs. That is sad. [Reply]

True...They're also pretty useless against the run. :-) [Reply]

You need at least 1 LBer that is good in pass coverage in todays NFL and if you just have slow turds with no range you are dead in the water.
Hitchens was good in Dallas cause it was a 4-3 and he just had an assigned area to cover. Suttons defense is asking him to chase guys all over the field sideline to sideline and he just cant keep up.
The range and speed needed in Muttons man defense is almost elite levels. It makes no sense when you are talent deficient. [Reply]
