Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]

I don't mean to question the stats (since they are obviously next gen and all), but it really doesn't look like he scrambled for 45 yards. After he drops back the first 5 yards, he starts to run. From there it's 5.1 seconds until he releases the ball. He ran a 4.8 40 at the combine. Are you telling me he ran 40 yards in-game, in pads, almost falling down, while changing direction in 5.1 seconds? Yeah, not so much.
Not to take anything away from the play - it's one of my favorites of his so far. More just questioning the stats presented. [Reply]

40 time is misleading. His 20 yard shuttle was very similar to Russell Wilson. The 20 yard shuttle is a better metric to judge a guy's scrambling ability in the backfield. [Reply]

With all these roughing the passer penalties going the way they are, if I'm a pass rusher or a DC, I'd just decide "fuck it, I'm gonna get flagged anyway, I'm gonna blow this guy up".
That's what I'd do.
Then they will suspend the player. The NFL is going to get its way. It wants to bend the league towards offense and the QB. [Reply]

That's a good point. His 20 yard shuttle time was 4.08. So, he ran the last 20 yards in the remaining second? Something's not adding up. [Reply]

Why is this specific random stat bothering you?
I mean I consider myself OCD but THIS is what you want to bitch about? [Reply]

Yeah and his 6.88 3 cone is better than Russell Wilson’s 6.97 time.
Scary to think he’s just as elusive as him. [Reply]
I think you're forgetting his teleportation skill. That's not something they measure at the combine because ... well ... it can't be measured without using devices that have not yet been invented. When Mahomes goes into teleportation mode, the Earth experiences time dilation which is why Next Gen stats is a little off there. If you're going to try and track Mahomes' teleportation ability, you'll need Nexter Gen Stats which won't be invented for another 50 years or so.

This cleared it up for me. Thanks, Mr. FAX. [Reply]
