Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”
“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.
“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.
The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”
In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

Im fine with that too...I'm sure as the JL movies start we will see him more. I felt he was more comfortable as Supes in this too

the nod to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. The movie was basically a variation of the graphic novel, but I smiled at the part where Clark was in space after he got nuked and was completely depleted, only to have the sun restore him. Very slick.
And a question -
Spoiler!
What was the purpose of the scene with the Flash? It seemed that he was trying to warn Bruce about saving Lois, but Bruce was never really in a position to be around Lois? I didn't understand that as the movie went on. What did I miss, other than the obvious way to introduce him?

He looks the part but we haven't seen who Clark or Supes is other than a downer
Did you miss Man of Steel?
He carries the entire movie. Cavill is perfectly fine. [Reply]
Since Flash can time travel I assume that sequence was meant to confirm to Batman that his fear--of a future where an evil alien rules the world--comes true, thus giving Batman more reason to want to take him down. But it was not clearly told so it just muddled the movie even further. [Reply]

I agree with this, but Supes is a boring character also. His best portrayals are the old JLA and JLA:U cartoons.. [Reply]
Cab someone explain the dream sequences to me? I'm going to see it again this weekend but this time I won't have my nephew interrupting me ever 10 min with ?s [Reply]

I think we'll find out in the Justice League movies. Otherwise it makes no sense. But it works if it's The Flash coming from the future or an alternate reality where Darkseid controls everything and Superman has turned bad.
My thoughts on it are similar to some already expressed...
Was it as good as The Dark Knight or Winter Soldier or something along those lines? No. But I liked it. For a movie that long, it held my attention the whole time.
I thought all the main actors did a good job for their roles. Luthor was different than we've known him, and that seems to be an issue for some, but Eisenberg played this incarnation well.
My only real complaint is the Doomsday element. I get their purpose for him in the film, but a Superman vs. Doomsday story really calls for its own movie and didn't need attached to a separate film. [Reply]

SPOILER ALERT
Agreed.
I think that's one of the reasons the movie is getting such bad reviews. It really isn't Superman vs Batman.. Granted they did fight but the fight didn't last long and it was surprisingly pretty one-sided.
It's more Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman vs Lex Luthor/Doomsday but obviously DC is smart enough to realize that calling the movie Superman vs Batman will obviously sell more ticket and judging by the numbers of the first week, they were right.
Another disappointment is that if they follow the comics we all know Superman isn't "dead," which like the comics makes the whole "Superman gets killed," blown totally out of portion. [Reply]
Well that, and the final three seconds of the movie proves he isn't dead....
Spoiler!
This part I think they could have gave him a space funeral so that he could soak up the suns energy that would revive him. I mean wouldn't that've made sense?
