Dayton Moore indicated earlier this week that he wanted to see how the team performed this week before pulling the trigger on trading any rentals. Think we have our answer.

Two prospects are going to be headed to Kansas City if the deal, which is pending medicals, is completed as expected. First on the deal was Trevor Rosenthal's Uncle Ken.
(Editor's note: @Ken_Rosenthal isn't actually Trevor's uncle. Trevor is too tall for that to be the case.)

The San Diego Padres are in agreement on a deal to acquire reliever Trevor Rosenthal from Kansas City, sources tell ESPN. Arguably the best reliever on the market is headed to the Padres, whose beleaguered bullpen will get a huge boost from a revitalized Rosenthal.
Perfect buy low, sell high transaction by Moore. Well played.
Padres have a VERY deep system. Definitely one of the teams you wanna be pulling prospects from. Ideal trade scenario for KC, just anxious to see who they got. [Reply]

And what good would it have done for the Royals to keep Moose instead of trading him?
None.
That’s why you trade him. Same reason you trade a guy like Rosenthal on a one year deal when you’re not competitive. You stack as many prospects in your system as you can and ‘hope’ some of them ‘hit’. Prospects are just that, prospects. But if you can pull a couple from a higher end system like the Padres vs. a shit system like say, the Rangers, then your odds substantially increase.
You can fairly criticize Moore for a lot of things. This is not one of them. He played this hand perfectly.
That’s all you can ask with a situation like this. [Reply]

Not saying you don't trade them, saying Moore doesn't exactly get good returns.
Olivares was never gonna play there so I guess that makes sense. I was holding out hope it would be Gabriel Arias, but that was asking alot. [Reply]
In addition to Edward Olivares (as reported by @AJCassavell), the Royals are expected to receive a PTBNL from the Padres in the deal for Trevor Rosenthal, per sources. Any player not on a 60-man Player Pool can't be traded during the season, so we'll likely see a lot of PTBNLs.

What's odd about this, Franchy Cordero was traded to make room for Oliveras. Now they've given up on both as Wil Myers and Josh Naylor have played well in Tommy Phams absence. [Reply]
