I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

OK, so serious question here:

My right achilles tendon is acting up every time I try to sprint on it recently. Do I just need to rest it for a week or something, or do I need to see a doctor?

I gave it about 3 days rest last week, and was able to go on a jog, but the next day it was fucking killing me again. Ibuprofen helps, but I would really like to be able to sprint every other day, and right now it's not letting me.

Maybe I need new shoes.

LOL. Push ups are great. You can do them anywhere and if you do the Hindu variant, they're great for posterior chain flexibility. But if gaining strength is the goal? No fucking way it's better than BP.

I'd like to think I've built up quite a nice chest mostly on bench press, incline bench and machine fly.

Useless with regard to what goal? Definitely not useless for strength. Not useless for building size in the chest, either, although there may be more effective exercises for this. Dips come to mind.

Strict. I ended my strength cycle last month doing 155x5x3. I could do singles @ 185 pretty consistently.

Admittedly, fairly shitty. It's never been an issue before though.

Alright. So here's the deal: I have a shitty right rotator and can not bring the bar all the way down to my chest, and can only go 1/2. Am I reaping any benefit from benching, or should I just do the push up variations where I CAN come all the way down?

You should consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.

The "new" trend in fitness is all the body weight, convict conditioning bullshit. There's nothing wrong with it, but expect to see a TON of broscience coming out about how "real" strength is built with body weight training.

And I'll admit that there is a ton of impressive stuff people are doing out there (planches, hand stand pushups, etc.. etc..) that is really attractive, but it doesn't time tested and true exercises.
