Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum selected Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker (25 years old; coming off torn ACL) 5th overall in an ESPN NFL mock draft.

Hendon Hooker very well may be a Scouts vs Media situation. We'll see.
I feel like he had a Geno Smith type of season, meaning he started off the season on fire. Both Hooker and Tennessee looked like a dominant team.
They had like 7 games where they either scored 60+ points, or almost scored 60 points. They beat Alabama and Bryce Young 52-49 and while Young had more passing yards than Hooker, Hooker threw 5 TD passes in the game, against a very good defense with a lot of pros.
I feel like Hooker's biggest downside is his age. [Reply]

Zero doubts that is the biggest knock on him. Teams want younger QBs in the 1st, not someone who will be 30 when he is eligible to have his fifth year option exercised. [Reply]
Here is an interesting question or thought experiment.
We stay at 31, and for some unexplainable reason, Richardson is still on the board.
"And with the 31st pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select QB Anthony Richardson, from Florida."
Would you lose your shit? Would you be angry or ecstatic?
I would love it because with Andy Reid, and our coaching staff, I would feel like we drafted at least 2 future 1st round draft picks, and maybe even 3.
Imagine Richardson learning from Reid and Mahomes. Imagine Richardson getting playing time in the last regular season game, and looking like a Mahomes clone at best, and Mahomes Lite at worst.
Teams desperate for a franchise QB would be bending over for Buck Viagra and his massive D (D = demands, trade demands) [Reply]

Spend a 1st rounder to get... what? A future 1st rounder?

You have to showcase the guy, though. And if the Chiefs could choose, they would opt to not play Richardson.
One Week 18 game here and there and some preseasons probably ain't going to cut it. [Reply]

KC has holes to fill. Not sure spending a 1st on a QB which is definitely not a need is a waste. [Reply]
