Nzoner's Game Room>NFL Top 100 Players 2019
jjchieffan 08:20 AM 07-23-2019
They began the countdown last night with 91 through 100. The Chiefs got their first entry with Schwartz at 94. How many Chiefs make it this year? Hill should make it, but will he be excluded due to the BS that was hanging over his head most of the off-season? Mahomes should be number 1. Kelce should be ranked pretty high. Frank Clark and Honey Badger both make it I would think. Chris Jones is another. Anyone else?

94 Mitchell Schwartz
85 Frank Clark
36 Chris Jones
21 Travis Kelce
19 Tyreek Hill

The more I think about it, the more I think Hill is probably in. Cooks just isn't a top 20 NFL talent, and no one else on the list even comes close to Hill.

If he's not every player should be terrified

I don't know if it still works this way, but in previous years the Top 100 ballots were sent out around Thanksgiving with a deadline returning them by April the following spring. So it's possible that the majority of votes were cast well before the March fiasco.

I'd have no problem with Brandin Cooks being in the top 100, but Top 20 for a statline of 1200yds and 5tds makes no sense. I think Tyreek is going to be in the 12-20 range.

It does not get any better than @tkelce at the TE position in today's game.#NFLTop100 : @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/aewDd6HNm5

An easy clue on the WRs is to look at the 2018 list. The top 100 last year included the following guys, with their rank following their name. I color code in green those who are on this year's list so far and put their rank to the left of their name.

Antonio Brown 2
Julio Jones 4
Deandre Hopkins 13
58 AJ Green 22
60 Larry Fitzgerald 27
33 Adam Thielen 36

Tyreek Hill 40
38 Keenan Allen 41
35 Davante Adams 45
84 Jarvis Landry 52
73 Stefon Diggs 65
23 Odell Beckham 77

Michael Thomas 81
Doug Baldwin 99
47 Juju Smith-Schuster (Unranked)
53 Mike Evans (Unranked)
64 Amari Cooper (Unranked)
70 T.Y. Hilton (Unranked)
76 Robert Woods (Unranked)
90 Julian Edelman (Unranked)
98 Tyler Lockett (Unranked)

Baldwin will clearly drop off the list. So the five will come from Brown, Jones, Hopkins, Hill, Thomas, or Cooks. I think Cooks is the guy who will miss. He just doesn't have the reputation at this point.

Tyreek will make it. I can see him being the #4 WR. Julio, Brown, Hopkins, Hill, Thomas

The realization that our offense has four of the top 100 PLAYERS in the league, regardless of offense or defense, and that it includes the quarterback, is ... exciting. It's very exciting.

Would you trade Hill for Hopkins straight up? Jones?

I wouldn't...Hill is just too rare. I'd think about though...but his speed would win out.

I would say Hill scares DCs more than anyone in the NFL.

That’s tough tbh. Jones is the best overall WR in the game. No off the field issues either. Hopkins has the best hands out of any WR but Hill is just so electric and you are forced to double him every play. He can run reverses and sweeps. Can also return punts. Hill can do it all.

Assuming on field production only, no.

Both are older, less durable, and Jones doesn’t catch TDs at a high rate.

Updated the OP to list the Chiefs to make the list so far. I guess that Matheiu didn't make the list. He's not going to be in the top 20. Two left to go. Hill and Mahomes.

That is very exciting. To take it one step farther, our QB, number 1 WR, and number 1 TE are all in the top 21. That's a scary good combination.
