Nzoner's Game Room>Hell, is college football now semi-pro feeder system greased by NIL $$?
Trivers 08:36 PM Yesterday
What is the hell is going on?

1) University of Nevada QB of 3-0 team quits because he claims he has not been paid $150K. Rumors are that he has better NIL offers for next year from a bigger school if he red shirts.

2) USC def tackle quits after transferring from Georgia because he is not happy with his NIL. Also red shirts.

3) Recently, QB Williams left OU to go to USC because he was promised more NIL and free fingernail polish. (I'm a bitter OU fan.)

4) The University of Tennessee is raising ticket prices to pay for NIL program.

Where is all this headed?

The haves vs the have-nots?

Would you want to be a head coach in all this NIL mess?

Are we going to have a college draft where HS athletes get drafted?

Maybe that's a thing they need to add players receiving NIL money at such a rate will not be eligible for scholarship.

That was a mid-tier SEC school.....
So back in '93 during my freshman year a bunch of my high school football team was at my college. The athletes had their own dorm with a dining hall attached to it that was open 24/7. And only the athletes could eat there.

With NIL deals and the players wanting to be considered employees, here is what needs to happen:

Take away scholarships. Your NIL is now your scholarship and you can pay your tuition, books, fees, room and board, insurance, and meals out of your "salary" just like any other employee in the U.S.

Yeah, why watch the best of the best athletes play a sport at it's highest level when you can watch a majority of athletes that will be selling insurance after college play a sport at a lower level?

It sounded like a reasonable idea at the time. But it's setting up to end pretty badly

Bo Jackson and Tebow were worth more than cafeteria food and rocks-for-jocks classes. And neither got the big guaranteed contracts in the pro's.

Yeah I'd rather see Taylor Swift every 5 seconds & defenses allowing 20 play dink and donk passes. Don't forget about the consistent reffing

Here's another thing that's going to hurt your vagina there's easily a handful of college stadiums that beat the atmosphere of Arrowhead

Yeah, the idea of NIL compared to what it is… it’s a joke. I appreciate the idea of the portal, but that took zero time to get out of hand.

Dude, I've been to more college games at more stadiums than you ever will in your lifetime. I've been to games at Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Clemson, Alabama, Texas, OU, Kstate, Nebraska, USC, Stanford, Michigan State, Miami, Texas A&M, and Florida State. The atmosphere at many college stadiums in electric. It still doesn't cover up the fact that college football is played at a lower skill level than NFL football.

I'm sorry that Taylor Swift being shown for a total of 30 seconds during a 3 hour broadcast hurts your delicate lady parts.

I'm not doin free appearances anymore bro you want clout you're gonna have to cash app me for it. I like how you didn't touch on the game play which in the NFL is pretty watered down and atrocious. I don't even know who plays tonight but it's guaranteed to be a slop fest. The NFL is becoming oversaturated

I actually said that college football is played at a lower skill level than college football, so I don't know how you can say I didn't address the game play. College football is a lesser game played by an aggregate of lesser athletes than NFL football. I know you are a Nebraska fan and probably don't understand much about football since it moved away from the wishbone offense and Tom Osbourne's boring ass teams, but the idea that the NFL is becoming oversaturated is ludicrous.

As others have said, NIL is a good idea in concept, but the reality of it and the transfer portal is it's a total shit show.

College football will be unrecognizable in 10 years.

I mean, maybe they should have had some kind of automatic stipend for student athletes that is somehow commensurate with their performance and experience (senior stars make more than freshman hopefuls) or something like that.

But now that the cats out of the bag, we're never going back. And it sucks.
