Twins had already clinched a spot so it was a different scenario. But that Tigers team also looked like a lock to break the Mets record going into the last week, and suddenly started playing like a competitive team.
Man, that's right! I do remember that. Everyone was convinced the Tigers would get to 121 losses, and suddenly, they didn't. Can lightning sorta strike twice? Baseball is a funny game. I seriously doubt it, but man, that would be the gut punches of all gut punches to get knocked out of the playoffs by Chicago.
